Our Reggio Emilia Inspired Approach To Early Learning In Horsley Park

At Little Blossoms Academy, your child learns by following their own curiosity. Our Reggio Emilia inspired, play based program is aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS). One real discovery at a time.

Childhood Is Not A Race, And We Never Treat It Like One

We believe children learn best when they lead. Our educators follow your child's interests and build the curriculum around them — an approach known as emergent learning. A child fascinated by insects one week might spend it studying our native bee hive, counting, drawing and asking questions without ever realising it is "learning".

This is the Reggio Emilia philosophy, inspired by educator Loris Malaguzzi and his idea that children have a hundred languages to express themselves. We treat the environment as the third teacher, so every room, garden and quiet corner is set up to invite discovery.

Every Child Gets Their Own Learning Story, Not A Report Card

We plan, observe, analyse and evaluate your child's learning in a continuous cycle. Educators document real moments of growth and build a personalised end of year learning portfolio for your child — a keepsake you will actually want to hold onto.

You are never left guessing how your child is going. You see their progress in their own words, drawings and photos.

School Readiness Built On Confidence, Not Flash Cards

School readiness at Little Blossoms is about your child feeling ready, not being drilled. We do not push phonics, formal writing or number worksheets on preschoolers.

Instead we build the things that truly matter before big school: confidence, turn taking, communication, fine motor strength and cultural awareness. Children who feel secure and capable walk into kindergarten ready to thrive.

Learning That Happens In The Garden, The Kitchen And The Fresh Air

Your child spends real time outdoors every day. They feed and head count our chickens, help harvest the vegetable garden and learn where food actually comes from — from paddock to plate.

Our native stingless bee hive, kept on site since 2013, teaches insect life cycles and Aboriginal bush tucker cultural learning. The harvest goes straight to our on-site kitchen and back onto your child's plate.

Experiences That Bring The World To Your Child

From on-site incursions to carefully planned excursions, we bring real-world learning to your child in ways that are safe, meaningful and memorable. Every experience is chosen to deepen curiosity and build on what children are already exploring in the room.

Animals and Nature

Reptile shows and a mobile petting farm bring real animal encounters safely to our grounds.

Arts and Performance

Pantomimes and musical productions spark creativity and a love of storytelling from an early age.

Emergency Services

Visits from the fire brigade, ambulance and police teach community safety in a friendly, gentle way.

Health and Wellbeing

Dentist and eye screenings, plus Healthy Harold child protection education — all on site, all carefully managed.

Building Confident Readers With Reading Eggs

Little Blossoms Academy is introducing the Reading Eggs program — a research-backed, structured literacy program trusted by teachers and families in over 170 countries. Designed for children from age 2 through to the early school years, it turns reading into a joyful, self-paced adventure.

Children work through short, motivating lessons that build phonics, sight words, comprehension and a genuine love of books. Educators weave Reading Eggs into the daily program alongside our existing language-rich approach, so every child progresses at their own pace in a low-pressure, playful environment.

More details will be shared with families as the program rolls out. In the meantime, speak to us on your tour and we can tell you how it will work in your child's room.

Why Western Sydney Families Trust Our Program

Little Blossoms Academy has been part of the Horsley Park community for many years. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the National Quality Standard, and our educators are known for staying with us for the long term — so your child sees familiar faces year after year.

Questions About Our Approach

What curriculum does Little Blossoms Academy follow?

We follow a Reggio Emilia inspired, emergent and play based curriculum, aligned to the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS). Learning is built around each child's interests rather than a fixed timetable.

Will my child be ready for school?

Yes. We prepare children for school by building confidence, independence, communication and fine motor skills through play, rather than drilling academics. Children leave us feeling secure and capable, which is what makes the transition to kindergarten smooth.

Do the children go on excursions?

We have a no off-site excursions policy for safety and ratio reasons. Instead we bring incursions to the centre, including reptile shows, petting farms, musical productions and visits from emergency services — all within our secure grounds.
